How to read this archive

Coverage is part of the record.

This static archive combines licensed historical tables with separately credited additions. It preserves source variation rather than filling gaps with guesses.

The numbers

How player records are counted

  • A squad record means a player was listed in a tournament roster; it does not prove the player appeared in a match.
  • Appearances and starts are counted from source-linked match lineups where available.
  • Goals and cards are counted from captured match-event records. Historical player and event depth varies by edition.
  • Records pages are explicitly labeled as source-linked totals, not complete career totals when the underlying match coverage is partial.

Name matching

Conservative identity links

  • Match-sheet spellings are joined to a squad only within that national team's tournament roster.
  • Reviewed transliterations, diacritics, initials and display-name variants are stored in source-scoped alias files.
  • Ambiguous single-name entries and names not safely found in an imported squad remain match-source-only profile records.
  • When a match-sheet spelling is available, it stays on the event record even when a canonical squad name is used for the profile link.

Current match-source-only profile count: 9.

Static by design

Pages are readable without scripts

Every edition, team, squad, player, match, record and source page is generated as HTML before deployment. The optional browser search loads a static JSON index; it is not required to read or crawl the archive.

Normal builds use pinned local snapshots and do not call external data services. Refreshing the source snapshots is a separate, reviewed workflow. No user accounts, APIs or runtime database are required.
